It is! Shinda Sekai Sensen [ The Afterlife Battlefront. It doesn't translate right shush. ] is what it stands for. Obviously, we're recycling the name here since no one else has come up with something more appropriate.

Whatever works. What does that mean though? Shinda Sekai Sensen?

Afterlife Battlefront. [ the briefest of pauses. ] I'm dead, from the afterlife, hence the name.

[Sorry, she can't help but stare.]

I've about this place bringing in people from different times, but I had, like, no idea it could bring dead people in.

You'd be surprised how many dead people there are here. There's one other person from the same afterlife as me, along with a ton of others.

But you said you're from the afterlife. Do you, like, have a life in the afterlife?

My afterlife was a little different from most afterlives. For one, I'm guessing that people of different religions have different afterlives-- otherwise there would've been more than just Japanese people there. That part's purely speculation though. Not all Japanese people got in either, since most people skip directly to being reincarnated. The afterlife I'm from is for young people whose lives were.. nothing but cruel jokes of fate, pretty much. None of us were happy during life. But! None of us gave up either. You can't get there if you commit suicide so don't think any of us did something like that. Each and every one of us was a fighter in one way or another.

Oh, and it was at a boarding school in mountains and forests with a stream.

That sounds so different to what I'm used to hearing. Is there, like, any reason why you're there?

Of course. The only reason anyone ends up there is if they died young and they died not being in control of their lives, miserable, and had a completely unfair life. That's why we all got in there. For me...

I used to have two sisters and a brother. When I was younger, our parents were out during the summer and our house was robbed. I was told.. I was told to find something that was worth a lot of money, but I didn't know anything. So the burglars told me I had ten minutes to find something or they would kill one of my siblings every ten minutes. The one thing I managed to find was too big for me to carry. I fell down the staircase with it and it shattered. The police came 30 minutes later.

[Kitty can't even bring herself to speak after that. It was all too sad. Being a mutant, she has heard so many sad stories, Danielle coming to mind. But this, this was awful. Mindless violence. This is what Kitty wanted to stop.

She looks away, trying not to get too emotional.]

I... I'm so sorry. [Not that she could have done anything, but she just felt the need to say it.]

Thanks for the sympathy. [ It's not like Yuri was asking for it, but.. people had a right to know. She wasn't one of those people who kept all of their darkness bottled up. It didn't help even if she talked about it though, like everyone said it was supposed to. ] It's a reason to keep fighting, even after death though.
