1. Are there any princesses here? --I'll have follow-ups on this one if you agree.

2. Does Luceti have a copy machine that can blow up photos?

3. Does anyone know a lot about robots, hacking, really tall ladders, or shifts?

Afterlife Battlefront. [ the briefest of pauses. ] I'm dead, from the afterlife, hence the name.

[Sorry, she can't help but stare.]

You're dead? [In your world? Kitty is just so polite~]

[ Honestly, Yuri prefers this to getting a million apologies from people she barely knows. ]

Dead as dead can be.

I've about this place bringing in people from different times, but I had, like, no idea it could bring dead people in.

You'd be surprised how many dead people there are here. There's one other person from the same afterlife as me, along with a ton of others.

Wow. That is, like, so.... wow. [What are words?]

But you said you're from the afterlife. Do you, like, have a life in the afterlife?

My afterlife was a little different from most afterlives. For one, I'm guessing that people of different religions have different afterlives-- otherwise there would've been more than just Japanese people there. That part's purely speculation though. Not all Japanese people got in either, since most people skip directly to being reincarnated. The afterlife I'm from is for young people whose lives were.. nothing but cruel jokes of fate, pretty much. None of us were happy during life. But! None of us gave up either. You can't get there if you commit suicide so don't think any of us did something like that. Each and every one of us was a fighter in one way or another.

Oh, and it was at a boarding school in mountains and forests with a stream.

That sounds so different to what I'm used to hearing. Is there, like, any reason why you're there?

Of course. The only reason anyone ends up there is if they died young and they died not being in control of their lives, miserable, and had a completely unfair life. That's why we all got in there. For me...

I used to have two sisters and a brother. When I was younger, our parents were out during the summer and our house was robbed. I was told.. I was told to find something that was worth a lot of money, but I didn't know anything. So the burglars told me I had ten minutes to find something or they would kill one of my siblings every ten minutes. The one thing I managed to find was too big for me to carry. I fell down the staircase with it and it shattered. The police came 30 minutes later.

[Kitty can't even bring herself to speak after that. It was all too sad. Being a mutant, she has heard so many sad stories, Danielle coming to mind. But this, this was awful. Mindless violence. This is what Kitty wanted to stop.

She looks away, trying not to get too emotional.]

I... I'm so sorry. [Not that she could have done anything, but she just felt the need to say it.]

Thanks for the sympathy. [ It's not like Yuri was asking for it, but.. people had a right to know. She wasn't one of those people who kept all of their darkness bottled up. It didn't help even if she talked about it though, like everyone said it was supposed to. ] It's a reason to keep fighting, even after death though.

It is, and I'm happy you do it. I'd keep going too.

I never had to go through it, but a lot of kids that come to the Institute at home, their parents kinda rejected them because of their powers. My friend was even cast away by her whole village. It gets pretty hard and scary. I always wish I could do more, ya know?

[ Yuri looks thoughtful for a moment. This is something she's dealt with a lot, being the leader of a group of teenagers who all had screwed up lives. ]

Just don't leave anyone behind, even if they screw up. That's more than enough.

I'd never leave anyone behind. [She's really serious about this too.]

I can't think of anything. I'm excited to be part of a group again.

What did the group you were in before do?

We protect our world. There are of threats out there.

Like superheroes?

I guess. I mean we're all mutants and stuff.

You've got superpowers, so as long as you're protecting people you get to be superheroes. [ She pauses. ] I've got something but it's more because I'm dead. It didn't go away even when I came here so I get the feeling that even though I am alive here it's not quite the same. Like whatever's keeping me around knows I'm not supposed to be here. [ Yuri's pulling out a knife now, god knows where from-- she'll keep it a secret forever-- and cuts the back of her hand. It's not healing right away, obviously, but she wipes the knife off on a napkin and puts it away. Give it a minute or so and it'll be gone since it's a minor injury. ]
