That's the point of going and learning. The point is if you start learning something, you'll eventually be able to do it in a useful manner. Why do you think you learn basic math or how to write? Same thing. Just because you know how to write doesn't mean you'll do anything useful with it, but you still learn it. Same with this, except there will actually be uses for it!
