I'm starting to think waking up in strange places every time I get seriously injured is becoming a pattern. Is this the second phase of the afterlife? Level 3?

[ Yuri put one hand on her hip, shifting her weight to the opposite. She was still in that little sundress thing, wings still new, back still sore, but based on her gait? She already looked like she thought she owned the damn place.

She reached up and scratched her head slightly with the hand that wasn't on her hip. God it felt weird without her headband. Maybe finding her headband should be her number one priority. Seriously, she never went around without that thing, it felt weird. No, no, she probably should figure out where she is.

Journal first? She hadn't even looked at that thing yet. She opened it up and after poking around a bit, she decided to make a post. While walking through town in just her little dress, because she really doesn't care that much. ]

It's cold out here and I have no idea what's going on.

[ The dullest look on the planet, because really, this is getting ridiculous and she misses her thigh highs. They're warmer than this. Not a second later, she's got a tone that sounds pretty damn commandery. ]

I'm just pissed when other people confuse the kanji in my name but, it's inevitable I guess.

[ She just remembered Sento, since that was what she'd decided on using. She might be a little nice to him though. ]

[oh god. He groaned and rubbed the back of his neck.]

Battler Ushiromiya.

Battler. I'll try to remember that, but if I get annoyed I might go back to calling you Sento-kun. [ A pause. ] By the way, I don't usually go by Nakamura, so Yuri or Yurippe is fine for you to call me. I don't really bother with a lot of formalities either. And thanks for offering to take me to the clothing store. [ She's freezing right now you have no idea, she's just holding it in. ;; ]

Oh? So you have no problems with me just jumping to Yuri instead of sticking with Yuri-san~? Okay okay, that sounds fine to me. Yurippe sounds kind of.... weird. So I'll just stick with your real name.

And no problem! I couldn't just leave you out here wandering around. You look pretty cold so, we better hurry up.

I'm going to call you Battler whether you like it or not, so I don't see why you can't call me Yuri. [ Ahead of Battler already. ] You hurry up then, I don't know where I'm going.

[Jeez! He frowns at that, and then starts to jog a bit so he's ahead of her again.]

Okay okay, Yuri. ....Ah, it's kind of weird dropping honorifics so suddenly. I was raised in a rich family so we were always taught to be super polite...

So? I came from a pretty well-to-do family too.

Oh did you? Looks like we have that in common.

My family was like... so rich we owned an island- apparently grandfather got gold from a witch. Yeah right though, that sounds so idiotic. I even met the so called witch...

[ Weren't they talking about being polite? Maybe this guy just needs some kind of outlet to talk about this.

Unless this is that thing that she said to save for later because it was a long story. Yuri figures they're walking anyway though, might as well keep talking while they do. ]

You're in another world and have wings on your back and a witch sounds idiotic?

I guess... yeah it sounds silly when you say it like that. But you see, back in my world I had to be put in a game with a witch. Damn bitch, she said my family died magically- so how could I accept something like that?

Your family's dead? [ Her tone seems to have changed a little bit. She's a lot more serious now, anyway. ] What happened?

[Battler just keeps walking, but he glances over at her when she asks that. Then he sighs.]

Couldn't hide that one forever I guess... okay, you're going to have to just believe me on this one.

I went to this family conference of mine, it was my relatives and all these servants on an island. There was about eighteen of us. Before I knew it, they were all dropping like flies- every one of my family members were soon dying... being killed in ridiculous ways, like having a stake drilled into their heads... stuff that any normal human would do.

Before I knew it... it was like all of us had been killed but... at the same time it wasn't like that. A witch came before me and told me that she had done it with magic... I told her that was stupid and it was obviously a human who did it. I guess... if I could figure out that a human did it, it would... soften the blow, they they didn't just die magically. It was that and- I was promised my family would return back to me if I won this game with the witch.

[ A pause. Because that sounds.. too good to be true. Bringing someone back from the dead.. That would just be too easy. Then again, look at her now. ]

I guess I can't really doubt that it's possible to bring people back from the dead since I'm here now.

[Battler shrugs.]

I wasn't in the right state of mind back then when I made that kind of deal with her. I had just lost everyone, I was desperate to get them all back. So... after that first game, there were three more gameboard laid out before me. They revolved around my family dying in weird and gruesome ways, I had to watch it happen over and over again- and on top of that I had to guess who was the culprit, I had to guess which one of my family members or friends killed them all.

So you're right in that aspect, it was all like a twisted game just meant to harm me and make me go around in circles. Now, as for the thing I have to focus on... my sister was killed before me in that game. She's six years old to me but- in a different timeline, one where everyone died and no one came back to her, she was alone for twelve years. She sacrificed herself for me and... well, now she's here in Luceti. Of course... I didn't think I'd ever see her again, under the circumstances.

[ Yuri doesn't say anything for a bit. That's a lot to take in, especially for someone who also watched their siblings die and really wants to see if any of them are here now.

They'd still be extra-little if they were though, since they didn't end up in the afterlife with her. Somehow she's pretty sure she doesn't care. But... ]

Even if I could see my brother and sisters again I don't think I'd be able to stay here willingly. It sounds like coming to Luceti was pretty lucky for you though, being able to escape all that stuff and see your sister again.

Why couldn't you stay here willingly...?

W-well uh... I guess it was lucky, but I still had things to do back in my world. I wanted to find out why my family had to die, why everything was happening in that game, and solve a mystery someone asked me to solve. I have a lot of unfinished business so I'm pretty frustrated but...

[a sigh.] I can't really do anything now.

There are a lot of people depending on me. I was pulled here in the middle of something important, so I need to get back.

[ She stares at him for a moment, obviously unimpressed. ] You said you just got here and you've already given up?

Yeah... I know that feeling.

[So he stops when she asks him if he's given up.... ah- has he given up? Ange is here, and so is Kyrie-san but....]

Aahh... it's useless! It's all useless! You're right, I can't give up- no way in hell! I was stubborn enough to deny witches for four long games, this is nothing compared to that!
