Go get the coffee stir!
[ Yuri's going to go for a risky run around and try to hack at the spider's spinneret with the sword to try to get the thing's attention fully away from Sokka so he can go get it. ]
no subject
This is a terrible weapon.
no subject
[ She doesn't even know if that's a real thing, but that's what they're using it for. And if it isn't a thing, she'll just claim it is in her world-- whatever works.
Once Sokka's gotten it close enough and Yuri's been keeping it from going other directions, Yuri does something that probably looks incredible stupid-- she's going to tackle the spider into the sink, then jam the sword into the side as they both fall so that she hopefully doesn't end up down there too. It's looking like she just fell down the sink with the spider while she dangles from Sokka's sword. ]
no subject
Oh whew! The moment he looks down, he's relieved. His sword is okay!
Oh. And Yuri too. He kneels down to offer a hand up.]
Wow. Nice move. Kind of reckless though.
no subject
Don't worry, your sword's fine!
[ That's def' what Sokka cares about, right? ]
no subject
Good. It's one of a kind. It's irreplaceable. [And okay, he's glad she's okay too. He pulls her up onto solid ground again.]
no subject
[ Yuri gets up pretty quickly once she's on the counter again, brushing off her knees. ]
Now that we haven't been murdered by an eight-legged monster-- which is what we're calling it if anyone asks, we're not saying that we nearly got our asses kicked by a spider-- want to try to get out of here again?
no subject
[A moment passes where he glances in her direction and sheepishly adds:]
I actually was going to make some to give you. You know, for your birthday. Experiment kind of ruined that.
no subject
[ Wait what? Her birthday--
Sokka you're not supposed to know about that! Yuri kind of freezes for a moment after he says that, just staring at him with a dumb look on her face. Largely because she's had this feeling that while she likes Sokka, he probably doesn't like her back as much. Then suddenly he's getting her a birthday present when he shouldn't even know about her birthday. Only Hayate and Yotsuba really know when it is, she thought, so that would definitely mean one of those two were the reason that Sokka knew which means either they were leaking information to everyone and/or Sokka went out of his way to find out, right?
What the hell.
She's got a little blush on her cheeks and her lips puff out in a frowning pout, but she looks to the side and starts walking. ]
You didn't have to get me anything. [ And then once she's at least 5 feet past him, she quietly adds. ] But thanks for the thought.
[ And is now running ahead on the counter and shouting back at him. ]
So who do I have to kill for telling you, huh?!
no subject
I'd rather not be an accessory to murder. Unless it involves spiders, anyway. [But you know what? Since they could run into danger and he does just have them around, he's going to pull out those two knives she used before for climbing. He catches up to her and hands them over.]
But here. You can have these. Happy birthday.
no subject
You realize this is the only birthday present I've gotten in years right? Which makes the corny factor of this increase a thousand-fold.
[ Still, she takes them and looks over them now. She hadn't really looked at them before but they were hers now right? So she's going to stare at them for a moment, then look away. ]
Thanks.
no subject
[However the fact he's the one giving her the first birthday present she's received in years... well, that's pretty deep. He had no idea.]
no subject
[ Even if they're older, that just means they're definitely stronger, right? More experienced.
Also, she kinda likes them. ]
You can use the newer ones. Unless you really want to keep these ones.
no subject
[They have some sentimental value, that set of knives, but that makes them more meaningful a present. So he thinks it's better this way.]
no subject
[ Her voice sounds playful when she asks and there's a little smile on her lips. ]
no subject
Presently? No. But anything can become one. So try not to lose them.

[Sokka starts pulling on the edge of a paper towel. Which is harder than he thought it would be. This shouldn't require this much exertion of strength!]
no subject
[ Okay color her face confused and her voice surprised. She cares about the kid a lot, but family? True, not, or incredibly confusing, it's not like Yuri would admit anything more than being a little protective of her.
Though the actual description of it sounded like something Yotsuba would do, definitely. ]
I'd rather avoid her having to ever use knives for anything but dinner. [ She gives Sokka a look that expresses she's probably not that amused at being accused of caring about someone that quickly. ] --Are we counting everyone that lives in the same house as family now?
[ At least she's going to go try to help Sokka now by going to the other side of the roll to try to push the roll in time with his pulling of the paper towel. ]
no subject
I don't know. I guess it depends on what you think of family. [Sokka is able to get the paper moving now, so he starts pushing it down to the floor. This will probably take awhile.] But you're all she's got, aren't you?
no subject
[ Yuri's pushing and moving along with the paper towels, so she has to go back to where she started after a few moments. Putting that much body weight into one spot seemed to work better than little bits at a time though. ]
no subject
[By now it looks like the towels are hitting the ground, so he stops. Time to start scaling.]
no subject
[ Ahaha. Right Yuri.
Anyway, Yuri's considering trying to pull one of those bullshit things in the movies where they stick a knife in the giant flag thing and fall down while it tears but it helps to stop the fall or something.
In the end she goes with not risking suicide and follows Sokka onto the paper towel ]
no subject
[As cool as that might sound to Sokka as well, he prefers a nonlethal form of climbing. And also, remembering the kitchen sink thing, he makes sure Yuri stays level with him on climbing or just below him. No sneak peeks here!]
no subject
[ Yuri notices his effort to stay there and has to admit he's kind of a gentleman. At least mentally admit. As for the climbing? This is going way too slowly for her taste, but her patience hasn't given out just yet at least. ]
